Kyo

Chapter 06: Unexpected

Kyo Eniwa was standing by the doorway of the Masaki household.  Takumi, who was shock, quickly turns to his older sister.  “Did you tell him our address?” he asks her.

Kyo shakes her head.  “No.  I have never given our address to him.” she answers in fear.

“Then how did he get here?” Takumi asks.

“I don’t know.  Who is he here for?” she asks.

“Stupid.  For you, of course!” Takumi answers, rolling his eyes a bit.  “Go and talk to him.”

“But it’s late out.  I want to sleep.” Kyo answers, refusing.

“Don’t kid yourself.” Takumi answers, “You want to see him.  He’s here.  Go and meet him.”

“Takumi?”

“I’ll tell mother and father.” He adds, “Just straighten things out with him.  Maybe he’s finally here for a confession.” He smiles at her, “don’t mess up now, Sis.  This is your only chance.”

“Don’t say that!” Kyo breathes.

“Later.” Takumi exits from the limo and bows slightly as he passes by Eniwa.  Still in the limo, Kyo finally force herself to get out.  She stops by him.

“Why are you here?” she asks him.

“You’re here---finally.” Eniwa mutters in relief.  “I was beginning to worry.”

“Why are you here?” she asks him again.

He looks at her.  “I’m sorry.” He apologizes, “I missed you.”

“Missed me?” she looks confuse.  “What?”

“I must have disappointed you.” He continues to speaks, “Of course I have.  You must hate me.”

“Wait a minute!” Kyo snaps at him.  “Why are you here?!” she asks him.

“I wanted to see you.” He answers.

“See me?”

“For the past days, the only thing I have been doing was thinking about you.  Even if I don’t, you’re always there---somehow.”

“You’re lying.” She answers.

“Masaki…”

“Don’t play with my feelings!” Kyo snaps at him.  “I don’t want you to play with my feelings!”

“Masaki?”

“Yes, it’s true that I like you, but I don’t like you anymore!  Not like this.” She shakes her head.  “You’re different.  You’re not the same Eniwa, I know.”  She turns away from him.  “I don’t know what happened to you, but please leave.  I have to go home.”

“You must have been angry.” He whispers.  “I understand, but you know---you’re the first girl, I really liked.”

“……”

Kyo remains in silence and Eniwa left for home.

What the heck am I doing?  I wanted to hear Eniwa say that to me so much---now he finally said it.  But why is so wrong?  Why is it that I don’t feel liked by him at all?  I don’t understand him.  I really don’t.

Kyo hides her face from Eniwa as much as possible.  She had been thinking about him the whole night that her eyes are red and itchy.  Since that morning, she couldn’t even face him.

Don’t let him see me like this.  Damn it!

“You’re really pushing it hard, aren’t you Sis?” Takumi watches Kyo hide her face while eating.  “Aren’t you at least embarrassed?”

“Why wouldn’t I be?!” Kyo answers.  “I completely rejected him last night!”

“Are you happy about it?” Takumi asks.

“Well I…”

“You’re not, are you?” he mutters.  “You’re regretting it…”

“Why you!” Kyo snatches Takumi’s collar.  “Can you stop it already?!  I’m feeling horrible!”

“If you like him, why did you reject him?” Akira asks her.

“Eh?” Kyo and Takumi turns to her.  “I don’t know.  I guess---it was my pride.  Well, I was angry at him when I saw him, but when I spoke with him, I was happy.  I don’t know.  I’m probably a very stupid moron right now.  A good for nothing who lacks in school work as well as social life but food!” she frowns.

“Wow, Sis.  You don’t have to be so straightforward about it.” Takumi teases.

Quickly she stands up.  “I’m going now.  Takumi you clean up and Akira-kun, if you help him.  I will not forgive you.”  She walks away.

“Seems like you overdone it this time.” Akira mumbles.

“Sure sounds like it.” He nods.

I’m hiding away from Eniwa as if he’s hunting me.  How stupid.  He doesn’t care about you.  He’s just teasing you.  Nothing more.

“Huh?” Kyo suddenly stops walk as a strong, and warm, hand grabs her wrist and pulls her towards him.  It was Eniwa.

“Here.” He whispers and hands her a small eye drop.  The touch of his hand was warm and gentle.  “This should keep it from hurting.”

“Eniwa…”

“Later.” He walks from her.

Eniwa…

“Hey, I’m just going to the bathroom okay.” Akira walks from Takumi.

“Alright.  I’ll meet you at homeroom.”

“Later.” Akira walks into the hallway where the girl’s bathroom was located.  Not a lot of students use that bathroom because a rumor said that a girl haunts that bathroom.  Walking, she suddenly notices a figure that looks like Kyo’s.

“Kyo-chan?” she calls to the figure.

“Akira-kun?” Kyo returns her call.

“What’s the matter?” Akira asks.

“Do you think I’m wrong?” Kyo asks.  “About Eniwa?”

“What happen?” she asks.

“I don’t know.” Kyo answers.  “I’m lost.”

“Kyo-chan…”

“So, this is where you go when you have to use the bathroom!” Kyo looks around the empty bathroom.  It looks a little creepy.

“Yeah.” Akira answers from one of the stalls.  “No one uses it, so I decided to come here.  It’s risky to be walking out of a girl’s bathroom when you’re dressed like a guy.”

“I understand.” Kyo nods.  “But aren’t you scared?”

“You mean the rumor?”

“Yeah.”

“I tried not to think about it.” She answers.  “It’s better that way anyway.”

“I see.” Kyo smiles, “I wouldn’t have the guts of coming in here alone like you.”

Walking out of the stall, Akira smiles, “I understand what you mean.”

“Already now?” Kyo asks.

“Yeah.”

“Let’s go then…” Kyo answers.

As they walk towards the exit, a few voices stop them.  It sounded like Takumi and a girl.  Akira and Kyo both exchange looks as they wait for the path to clear, but for some reasons, it seems to suddenly stop there.

“Takumi-kun,” the girl speaks.  She sounds nervous.  “Please accept this from me.”

“Sounds like she’s giving him something.” Kyo mutters.

“Oh,” Akira nods.

“Sorry, but I can’t accept it.” Takumi answers.

“Why not?”

“I just can’t accept it.” Takumi answers.  “Sorry.”

“Takumi-kun?  Is it because of Akira-kun?” she asks him.

“What?” Takumi quickly blurts.

“About you?” Kyo turns to Akira, who looks like she’s blushing.

“Is it because you don’t want to go out with anyone unless he’s dating someone too?” the girl asks.

“Uhm---not exactly that.”

“Someone’s already trying to find him.” the girl continues, “I’m sure they have found Akira-kun by now.”

“Sounds like you and Takumi are sure popular among the girls.” Kyo smiles at Akira.

“Don’t say that.” Akira answers.

“Sorry, but I just don’t have the same feelings towards you.” Takumi replies.  “Please understand me.”

“Then you don’t like me?” the girl whimpers.  “Then who do you like?”

“Uh---I can’t exactly say…”

“You liked someone don’t you?!” the girl snaps.

“Uhh…”

“Who?  Do I know her?!” she asks in desperation.

“Sheesh, this girl doesn’t seem to stop does she?” Kyo mutters.

“Sounds like he’s in trouble.” Akira mutters.

“Do you want to help him?” Kyo asks her.

“What?!” Akira blushes.  “No way!” she answers, turning away.  “I don’t care what happen.”

“Really?” Kyo asks her.

She didn’t reply.

“---hey, what are you doing?!” Takumi exclaims in shock.  “Get off me.”

“What!” both Kyo and Akira look at one another, a little curious and confuse.  Without another thought, they both rush out of the girl’s bathroom and outside.  The girl was on top of Takumi, trying to snatch a kiss from him.  The girl and Takumi stares at Kyo and Akira as they both exchange looks and quickly separate.

“Akira-kun?” the girl looks a little embarrass.  “You’re here?”

“Uh---yeah?” she nods.

“Sis, why are you here?” Takumi asks her.

“I attend this school.” Kyo answers.  Looking at Takumi for a sec, she quickly wraps her arms around Akira’s arm.  Both Takumi and the girl look shock.  “Now that you’ll excuse, we’re not done with our business yet---right Akira-kun?” she mutter her name in a girly way.  She pulls Akira from the two.

“Sis!  Akira-kun!” Takumi calls after them.

“Akira-kun!” the girl yells after them as well.

Kyo and Akira walk a few good meters before she finally let go of Akira’s arm and starts laughing.  “You should have seen Takumi’s face!  He totally looked anxious!”

“Do you think that’s very nice to do?” Akira asks.

“You can’t just let him be with a girl like that Akira-kun!” Kyo mutters at her.  “Someone might snatch him away from you!”

“What are you talking about?!” Akira turns away.  “I don’t care what happens to him.”

“Really?” she narrows her eyes.  “Then why did you jump out of the girl’s bathroom with me when Takumi is calling for help?” she asks.

“Well—that’s---that was reflexes!” Akira answers.

Kyo laughs.  “Don’t kid yourself.  My brother is a good person.  He likes you too.”

“What?” Akira blushes.

“He’s not totally sure, because you’re a guy.” Kyo smiles, “but he’s beginning to develop feelings for you.  He’s in denial though.  How cute.  You should tell him soon.”

“Kyo-chan…”

“He’s very understandable.  He had to deal with me for more than ten years, I’m sure he’ll forgive you.” She smiles, “think about it.  I saw your face when he was talking with the girl.  It hurts, doesn’t it?”

“……”

“I have to go to class now.  It was nice hanging with you.” She waves and walks away.

My brother is a good person.  He likes you too.  He’s not totally sure, because you’re a guy.  But he’s beginning to develop feelings for you.  He’s in denial though.  How cute.  You should tell him soon.

“Takumi-kun.”

“Again!” Kyo exclaim angry at the booklet of cleaning duties.  She was to do it herself once again.  Her so-call partner wasn’t going to be there.  “This is getting very annoying you know!” she yells to the empty room.  She walks to her desk and sit down.  “I’m tire.” She mutters.  She leans onto the desk and close her eyes.

“Uhm, Akira-kun.” Takumi approaches his friend.  “About this afternoon…”

“What about it?” Akira answers.

“There’s really nothing between us.” He confesses.  “Nothing at all.”

“Okay?”

This sounds so weird?!  Why the heck am I confessing to him?  We’re both guys!  Of course he knows that there’s nothing between me and that girl!  Why am I so nervous?!

“Sorry, but I can’t walk out with you tonight.” Akira mutters, “I have something after school to do.”

“Is that so?” Takumi mumbles.  “Then I guess, I’ll just go and pick up Sis.”

“She has cleaning duty.” Akira answers.

“What?  How did you know?” Takumi asks.

“She told me.” Akira answers.  “Why?  Don’t you know?”

“No.” he shakes his head.  “She forgets it all the time.  By the way---are you and Sis---do you have feelings for her?!” he quickly blurts out.

“What?” Akira stares at him.

“You like my sister don’t you?” he asks.

“Huh?”

“If you do, I will ask her for you.” He mutters again.

“What!” Akira snaps.  “What are you talking about?!”

“Akira-kun?”

“Why don’t you go home already?!” Akira shouts at him.

“Akira-kun?”

“Your sister and I have nothing together.” She answers.  “Go home already Takumi-kun!”

“Akira-kun…” he mumbles her name.  Lowering his head, he walks from her.  What was I saying?  Sis likes Kyo Eniwa!  Of course she’ll never turn to Akira!  Akira is her friend---just her friend!  Nothing more.  I’m acting strange---and I’m nervous too.  What the heck!  Akira-kun and Sis?

I was dreaming.  I dreamt about Eniwa with me in the classroom.  He said that he likes me.  He held my hand.  He smiled to me.  He was gentle.  He was kind.  I was dreaming.

THOONG!

“Ahh!” Kyo jumps.

“You shouldn’t sleep in class, you know.” Eniwa, who was cleaning, speaks to her.  “It’s a very bad habit.”

“Eniwa?”

“Did you sleep well?” he smiles.

She nods.  “Very well.”

“That’s good, but it’s thundering outside.” He points to the window.  It was pouring outside.

“It’s raining! Again?!” Kyo pouts.  “Why is that it’s always raining whenever I do cleaning duty?!”

“Beats me.” He answers.

“But, why are you here?” Kyo asks him.

“Because, I want to.” he answers.

“Shoot!” Akira quickly picks up her shirt that has fallen on the ground.  “Why did it have to rain?”  She was only outside for a second and she was already drenched.  “I should quickly change and go home.”  As she pulls out of her shirt, a cloth was wrapped around her chest.  It was tied tightly, making her chest invisible.

“What a day.” A voice suddenly stops her.

Someone’s here?  But how?

“It’s a good practice.  I haven’t played ball like that for awhile.”  The voice continues to speak.

Takumi-kun!
